Property Tax Management

Mahangara Palike Revenue department has computerized its
property tax collection and digitized all the assessment
registers and DCB registers. The eGov Property system has
been collecting property tax and offering computer receipts
in Bangalore for more than 2years in the 30 ARO offices, 4
Citizen Service Bureaus and BangaloreOne centers
throughout the city. The eGov Property system also provides
Khatha Certificates and Khatha Extracts.
The BBMP has
assigned a property ID number (PID) that is a unique number
for each property in the city, this PID consists of the Ward
number, Street number and the door number of the property.

New Feature and Facilities Planned
In the coming
months the eGov Property tax system that is running
at BBMP is going to be enhanced in a number of ways.

PDA/Handheld collections of property tax on the field
will be automatically synchronized with the backend eGov
Property system in order to have up-to-date information
of the latest collections.

The DCB
statements for each property will be printed and sent to
citizens so that the existing records can be verified.

Credit Card
payments over internet of property tax will be
introduced so that citizens need not go to BBMP offices
to pay their property tax.

A citizen's
real-time interface to the eGov Property system
will be launched on the BBMP website that will provided -
so that if you paid your property tax and a few of
minutes later were to check the status of your
property's tax it should reflect the latest payment.

eGov
Property system will be tightly integrated to the
eGov Financials (accrual based accounting system) as
soon as eGov Financials is operational. This will enable
nightly automatic updates to BBMP accounting for property
tax as well as other forms of revenue.

There is an
ambitious plan to link each property record to the GIS
cadastral system that is being created at BBMP. Although
this is a laborious process that involves ground survey
and verification, this eGov Property integrated with GIS
will be launched ward by ward as soon as the GIS data
becomes available with appropriate Property ID linkages.
Citizens should be able to locate their Ward, Street and
Property online and check property details as well as
taxation details.
